52 years of waiting to see the world stage

52 years of a nation rooting for others

52 years of lost hope

222 years of freedom

What is freedom?

Freedom is unity

Freedom is coming together

Freedom is fighting the enemy, come what may

Freedom is establishing ourselves as the first free black nation

Freedom is taken not given

We are free, yet our freedom is questioned

We don't have the freedom of expression

We don't have the freedom to roam in our own land

We don't have the freedom to show pride in our uniform

We don't have the freedom to be

But again, freedom is taken not given

We did it in 1803

We did it in 1804

We have done it countless times

We did it in 2025

We will do it again

We will show out, we will reign on the world stage

We are a free and united people

We will soar again without anyone seeing it coming

This piece was inspired by the Haitian National Team uniform redesign request and the quote below I had to memorize in school.

"In overthrowing me you have cut down in Saint Domingue only the trunk of the tree of liberty; it will spring up again from the roots, for they are numerous and they are deep." ~Toussaint Louverture

In overthrowing the uniform you have cut down only the trunk of the tree of liberty; it will spring up again from the roots, for they are numerous and they are deep.

L'union fait la force!
